Jamie maintains a broad practice, ranging from Corporate and Commercial, Civil Litigation, Criminal Law and Personal Injury. In over 18 years of practice he has conducted a broad range of trials in matters from homicide to breach of contract and has appeared before all levels of court, including the Newfoundland and Labrador Court of Appeal and Supreme Court of Canada. Most recently, Jamie gave a presentation to the Greenspan Cohn Lecture Series at the Faculty of Law, University of Windsor, Windsor, ON titled “Unreliable Confessions: Going Beyond State Actors Revisiting the ‘Mr. Big’ Ruling”.
From 2008 to 2014, Jamie served as the Chief Adjudicator for the Newfoundland and Labrador Human Rights Commission. He has also served as an advisor to the Institute and Journal of Parliament and Political Law. A long-time member of the Canadian Bar Association (CBA), he is past chair of the National Constitutional and Human Rights Section of the CBA. He is frequently asked to assist in drafting submissions to Parliament and has represented the Canadian Bar Association on questions of constitutional and human rights law before government departments. Jamie currently serves as a Bencher with the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador and is a Master and Taxing Officer of the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Admitted to Newfoundland and Labrador Bar in 1999, Dean practices primarily in the areas of civil litigation, with a significant portion of his practice in the area of personal injury matters. Born and raised in Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador, Dean received his Bachelor of Laws Degree at Dalhousie University in 1998 before returning to the Island to practice. He currently sits on the Deer Lake Regional Airport Authority Board of Directors, as well as the Board of the Western Regional Hospital Foundation.
