Drinking Drivers

Court Mandated

IHCC is approved by the Department of Education to offer Driving Under the Influence (DUI) classes for persons charged with drunk driving (OWI) and convicted of driving while under the influence of alcohol. The class helps educate participants on the dangers and consequences of impaired driving and promote responsible decision-making.

At Indian Hills, the DUI program is called the “Drinking Drivers” course, and it is part of their Continuing Education & Workforce Solutions (CEWS) division.

What the program is

  • A court-mandated DUI/OWI education class
  • Approved by the Iowa Department of Education
  • Designed for individuals charged with or convicted of impaired driving

 Purpose of the DUI Program

The main goal is education and prevention, not punishment. The program:

  • Teaches the effects of alcohol on the body and driving ability
  • Explains legal and personal consequences of DUI
  • Encourages low-risk and responsible decision-making

 Course Structure & Details

  • Duration: حوالي 12 hours total
  • Type: Non-credit / continuing education
  • Completion: Certificate issued after finishing

  • Focuses on risk reduction
  • Based on scientific research on alcohol use
  • Helps participants understand behavior patterns and prevention strategies
