NC DWI Place (also known as Northeastern Professional Counseling) is a state-certified facility that provides mandatory assessments and treatment programs for individuals with a North Carolina Driving While Impaired (DWI) conviction. They specialize in “out-of-state” cases, helping drivers who were ticketed in North Carolina but live elsewhere, or those who need to resolve a North Carolina “hold” on their license.
The DWI Assessment & Programs
In North Carolina, the specific program you must take is determined by a mandatory Substance Use Assessment.

DWI Assessment: A one-on-one interview with a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS) to review your driving record and alcohol/drug history. By state law, the fee for this is exactly $100.00.

ADETS (Alcohol Drug Education Traffic School): This is a 16-hour educational program (using the “Prime for Life” curriculum) for first-time offenders with low blood alcohol levels and no identified substance use disorder.

Short-Term/Long-Term Treatment: If the assessment identifies a higher risk level, you may be assigned to a 20-hour, 40-hour, or 90-hour outpatient treatment program.
