Alternatives, Inc.

Missouri Alternatives Counseling & Education (alternatively known as Alternatives, Inc.) is an established agency specializing in court-ordered programs, substance abuse evaluations, and professional counseling. Based in Southwest Missouri, they focus on helping individuals navigate the legal requirements of alcohol and drug-related offenses to regain their driving privileges.

Core Services

The site highlights a wide range of specialized programs designed for compliance with Missouri state law and workplace regulations:

  • SATOP (Substance Abuse Traffic Offender Program): This is their primary service for those who have lost their license due to a DWI or drug-related offense. They guide clients through the entire screening and education process.

  • Evaluations & Assessments:

    • DWI Evaluations: Available for both in-state and out-of-state cases.

    • DOT/SAP Evaluations: Specific assessments for employees in safety-sensitive positions (Department of Transportation) following a drug or alcohol violation.

  • Specialized Classes:

    • Victim Impact Panels (VIP): A 4-hour class focusing on the consequences of distracted and defensive driving.

    • MMEP (Medical Marijuana Education Program): A newer program specifically addressing legal and safety education regarding medical marijuana.

    • Minor Awareness (AMAP & SAM): Classes for individuals under 21 or those charged with supplying alcohol to minors.

  • Counseling: Beyond court-mandated tracks, they offer outpatient treatment and professional counseling for mental health, marriage, and anger management.

Victims Impact Panel

Alternatives Inc. offers the Victim Impact Panel (VIP) class to educate offenders on the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, and how such behavior has affected and continues to affect victims.

at Happens in a VIP Clas
In the VIP class, offenders hear from crime victims who have been impacted by motorists under the influence. The idea is to give offenders a non-confrontational presentation from real victims who are sharing their stories. The lives of the victims were changed by the decisions of impaired drivers and they are brought to VIP panels to help offenders make changes within themselves.ae Yeen Odered to a VIP Panel Class

Judges may order offenders to take a VIP class. If you must take a VIP class in order to have your license reinstated, call Alte
