a major non-profit provider in Charlotte, North Carolina, specializing in substance use and mental health services. Their ADETS (Alcohol Drug Education Traffic School) is a state-certified program specifically for individuals who have received a DWI or other drug-related charge but do not have a clinically identified substance use disorder.

The ADETS Program

The ADETS program is a 16-hour educational series designed to help participants understand the risks of impaired driving and prevent future incidents.

  • Duration: The course is exactly 16 hours of classroom instruction.

  • Format: While traditionally held in person, the program is currently available via telehealth, allowing participants to complete the requirements remotely through a live, instructor-led platform.

  • Target Audience: This is the standard requirement for “Level 1” offenders—those with a relatively low blood alcohol concentration (BAC) and no prior DWI convictions.

  • Cost: In North Carolina, the fee for the ADETS class is set by the state at $160.00.

The Assessment Process

Before you can enroll in ADETS, you must undergo a mandatory DWI Assessment.

  • Walk-in Hours: No appointment is needed for initial assessments.

    • Monday – Thursday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

    • Friday: 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM

  • Assessment Fee: The state-mandated fee for this clinical interview is $100.00.

  • What to Bring: You will need to provide your lifetime driving record and your BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration) results from the time of your arrest.

Location & Main Contact

  • Address: 100 Billingsley Road, Charlotte, NC 28211.

  • Phone: (704) 927-8840 (Direct line for Court and DWI Services).

  • Main Center Hours: The facility generally operates from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM for various services, though the court-specific wing has the shorter assessment hours listed above.

Additional Support

As a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), Anuvia offers a “safety net” approach to care. They provide a sliding fee scale based on income for those without insurance, ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent anyone from completing their court-mandated requirements.
