ASSESSMENT SERVICES
About Assessment Services
Assessment Services provides professional alcohol and drug evaluation services, education programs, and court-related monitoring for individuals facing substance-related legal charges. Since its founding in 1995, the organization has helped thousands of individuals navigate the legal and personal challenges that can arise from offenses such as DUI or drug-related violations. The program is designed to support individuals in meeting court requirements while also encouraging responsible decision-making and long-term behavioral change.
Led by experienced professionals in the substance abuse counseling field, the organization operates with a strong commitment to fairness, confidentiality, and professionalism. The director and owner, Barry Reed, has worked in the field since the mid-1980s and brings decades of experience in alcohol and drug counseling, assessments, and education. Through his leadership and the support of trained evaluators and instructors, the program provides services that are recognized and accepted by municipal and district courts throughout Kansas.
Assessment Services specializes in court-ordered alcohol and drug evaluations that help determine the appropriate level of education, counseling, or treatment required for each individual case. These evaluations typically include structured interviews and standardized assessments conducted by certified professionals, with the results reported to the courts or legal representatives when required. The organization also offers alcohol and drug education classes designed for first-time or repeat offenders, giving participants the opportunity to better understand the impact of substance use and the importance of making safer choices.
Beyond meeting legal obligations, the program emphasizes respect and understanding for every individual who walks through its doors. The staff works to create an environment where clients feel comfortable discussing their situation and receiving guidance without judgment. By combining professional evaluation services, structured education programs, and court-recognized monitoring, Assessment Services continues to play an important role in helping individuals move forward, satisfy legal requirements, and make positive changes for the future.
Evaluations
The statutes of Kansas and many other states require that a substance abuse evaluation be conducted on individuals that have been charged with a DUI or other substance abuse offenses.
Evaluations are conducted by state-certified counselors. The session usually lasts between 45 minutes and an hour and involves an interview and pencil and paper test. In some cases, the interviews can be conducted via telephone or tele-video. Urine drug screens are usually not a part of the assessment. At the conclusion of the session, you are informed about the findings of the evaluation and a report is forwarded to your attorney and the court. The recommendations in the report are used by the court to determine the conditions of your diversion or probation. We provide fair, objective, and professional evaluations.
Evaluation fees may vary, depending on the offense and the court. To find out the exact cost of an assessment, for your particular situation, call or e-mail Assessment Services.
