Substance Abuse and Dependency Services (SADS)

Outpatient Services

Chemical Dependency Assessment/Individual & Group Therapy
SADS provides substance abuse treatment services in all seventeen counties covered by Eastern Montana Community Mental Health Center. The services include an outpatient program, which includes an evaluation, assessment, and/or referral, crisis intervention, prevention and education, and ACT/DUI and Minor in Possession classes. Groups include Cognitive Principals & Restructuring, After Care, Moral Recognition Therapy, Thinking For A Change and Matrix Model. Services are provided by qualified, state-certified substance abuse counselors. Co-occurring Treatment and Medication Management are also available. Chemical Dependency services are available in person or via teleservices from your home.

Medication Management
EMCMHC partners with Frontier Psychiatry to offer Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for opioid or alcohol use disorders. This partnership with Frontier Psychiatry allows for the coordinated care of individuals with substance use disorders and medication management with an evidence-based, comprehensive approach.

Veterans Affairs Services
EMCMHC contracts with the Montana Veterans Health Administration Behavioral Health Department to provide substance abuse treatment for all eligible veterans. These services include assessment, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of substance abuse disorders.

DUI/MIP Classes
Montana law requires those convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs to complete the Assessment, Course and Treatment (ACT) program. This applies to the first three DUI convictions only. Fourth or subsequent DUIs are considered felonies and subject to a different set of penalties.

Eastern Montana Community Mental Health Center must have received the court referral form prior to enrollment. You will be scheduled to complete the 12-hour Prime for Life class. Online classes are held monthly. Prior to the Prime for Life class you will be scheduled for an individual assessment. During your exit interview your qualified, state-certified substance abuse counselor will make treatment recommendations. Failure to enroll by the enrollment date indicated on the court referral form or failure to complete the ACT program may result in being reported to the court as non-compliant.

If an individual has been convicted with two or more DUI/DUI per se offenses in the past 10 years, State law requires the individual complete some level of treatment, as well as monthly monitoring for one year.
