DRIVING ABUSE TREATMENT & EDUCATION (D.A.T.E.)
PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The D.A.T.E. program provides services for individuals arrested or convicted for driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol and/or other drugs. Programs are available for both first-time and multiple offenders. Counseling and educational sessions are designed to address the dangers and legal consequences of impaired driving.
FIRST OFFENDER PROGRAMS
WET RECKLESS (SB 1176)
- 12 hours of education
3 MONTH PROGRAM (AB 541)
- 12 hours of education
- 18 hours of group counseling
- 3 individual counseling sessions (15 minutes each)
6 MONTH PROGRAM (AB 762)
- 12 hours of education
- 36 hours of group counseling
- 4 individual counseling sessions (15 minutes each)
9 MONTH PROGRAM (AB 1353)
- 12 hours of education
- 46 hours of group counseling
- 13 individual counseling sessions (15 minutes each)
MULTIPLE OFFENDER PROGRAMS
12 MONTH PROGRAM (SB 38)
- Same as 18-month program below, excluding the last 6 months of re-entry
18 MONTH PROGRAM (SB 1344)
- 12 hours of education
- 52 hours of group counseling
- 26 individual counseling sessions (15 minutes each)
- 6 sessions of re-entry, 1 hour per month
