About Us
We treat our clients with respect. We want our clients to understand the emotional and economic consequences of choosing to drink and drive. We strive for excellence here at the Oklahoma Safety Center. Our evaluators and instructors are all certified professionals. We distinguish our program from other programs by both our professionalism as well as our commitment to friendly, caring and individualized care.
We are bound by strict confidentiality guidelines. State laws prohibits us from disclosing personal information to anyone, including relatives, without express written permission from you.
Our Mission
Our mission is to reduce the number of repeat offenders on Oklahoma roadways by providing educational services to DUI or Drug offenders, assist offenders to identify substance abuse problems, and refer those offenders identified with substance abuse problems to licensed community based treatment programs.
What to do after a DUI
Call us at (918) 621-1600, we can provide general information over the phone as well as schedule your appointments. The process will go even more quickly and smoothly if you have the following information ready:
- Driver License number
- Date of Birth
- Date, city, type of offense, attorney name
- BAC can be found on your arrest report.
NEXT STEPS
Once we have all of the necessary information you will need to take the Driver’s Risk Inventory (DRI) questionnaire. This is a standard series of questions that all clients must take. These questions take approximately 30-45 minutes to answer. You will then be given another questionnaire determined by the results of the testing.
EVALUATION
Once we have all of the necessary information and the DRI has been taken, you will meet with a certified assessor. This is a personal, confidential appointment. The time of the assessment is approximately 1 ½ to 2 hours. The state requires each DUI assessor to individually assess the client and then determine what level of recommendations are appropriate. We are required to ask you a series of questions in order to make that determination. If certain “risk” indicators or factors are present, you may be referred to outside treatment or counseling. We have a list of approved providers that you may choose from.
Steps for license reinstatement
Shortly after your arrest, you should receive a letter from the Department of Public Safety (DPS) that will include:
- Amount of reinstatement fee
- Date you are eligible to reinstate your license
- Instructions to obtain An Alcohol/Drug Assessment and follow the recommendations.
Call (918) 621-1600 to schedule an Alcohol/Drug Assessment. This evaluation MUST be performed by a counseling professional CERTIFIED by the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services as a DUI Assessor. At the end of your assessment, you will be given specific requirements to complete (DUI School, Victim’s Impact Panel, treatment, etc.). When you finish the requirements, return proof of completion to the Assessor. At that time, a Certificate of Completion will be issued to you. This Certificate will bear an embossed seal and red stamp indicating the date all requirements have been satisfied. You will submit in person, or by mail an original of this certificate along with the reinstatement fee in money order made out to the DPS.
You can contact the Department of Public Safety for information regarding your driver’s license at 918-632-7710 in Tulsa or 405-425-2059 in Oklahoma City.
