- The Rimrock Foundation provides the state-mandated ACT (Assessment, Course, and Treatment) program for individuals convicted of a DUI or similar offense in Montana. It is designed to help you navigate legal requirements and address substance use patterns.
The ACT Program Process
Completion of all three steps is a state requirement for license reinstatement.
- Step 1: Enrollment & Assessment: You must have a court referral on file before enrolling. The process includes a chemical dependency evaluation and a face-to-face interview with a licensed counselor.
- Step 2: The Course (Prime for Life): Based on the assessment, you may be required to complete the Prime for Life (PFL) course. This is an evidence-based education program that takes place virtually over two sessions.
- Step 3: Treatment & Monitoring: If the assessment or court order requires it (standard for second or subsequent DUIs), you will enter a treatment phase followed by monthly monitoring for one year.
Costs and Fees
The program requires self-payment, though payment plans are available. Insurance typically does not cover the education course but may cover parts of the treatment phase.
Service Estimated Cost Notes Assessment/Intake $292 $100 due at start of enrollment. Prime for Life Course $300 Must be paid in full before scheduling. Treatment Varies Based on the recommended level of care.
