Supporting the underlying causes of drug/alcohol usage.
The Seward Alcohol Safety Action Program (ASAP) provides early intervention services for individuals who have a DWI or other alcohol/drug related misdemeanor cases.
The purpose of the program is to support participants in addressing the underlying causes of their drug/alcohol usage behaviors that have led to legal involvement, while creating a plan to create lasting change.
How it Works
Court referrals are screened and evaluated and then referred to an appropriate level of education or treatment. Participants are monitored through progress reports from the agency of referral. Progress is reported by ASAP staff to courts. Non-compliance with court-ordered ASAP treatment or education can result in an issuance of a court summons or warrant for arrest.
What to Expect at Your First Appointment
ASAP staff will provide an orientation to the program. You will be given a packet of information with questions and answers about ASAP and how to successfully complete the program. Staff will discuss several forms that address policies, procedures, and financial responsibilities with you. ASAP staff will then conduct a screening to determine if treatment or education is required.
